Text Box: Text Box: Text Box:     Please consider writing to a prisoner    Text Box: There are over two million people currently incarcerated in American prisons.  Some of these men and women will never be released; but the majority of prisoners will one day be returned back to society. Life behind prison walls can be a very lonely and isolated existence with little contact from the outside world. Family and friends may move on, and the person who was once a part of their lives is often forgotten. In contrast to the belief that prisons are "homes away from home", where prisoners live the easy life at Tax payer`s expense, there are many well documented reports of violence and abuse, lack of adequate medical care, and lack of rehabilitation programs in American prisons.  In fact, prisons are often places in which people merely strive to survive.  A letter from the "outside" - a letter from you - can return some hope and make a huge difference in the life of a prisoner.    You may be surprised at the difference a prison pen pal can make in your life too!
